Sims 3 generations not working? ?

So I got sims 3 generations when it came out it work for about an hour then it like dropped. Where I was playing it/ where I keep my lap top doesn't have wifi (i know that sounds weird since it doesn't have wifi.) So then I took it to my dads house, where there is wifi and it works just fine. But when I don't have wifi the launcher says not responding when I hit play. Does anyone know how to fix this or way this is happening. It has never happened before I downloaded generations. Thank you
