My sims 3 generations expansion pack crashes?

Every time i play the generations expansion pack, it crashes. It doesn't really crash it like exits out but at the bottom of the tool bar its still there so ill click on it and its fine but the lighting of the game gets darker i don't really understand why this happens /: does anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it ??? that would be great if u help me !!
