Dell Inspiron 1545 disk drive not working?

I purchased my dell inspiron a little over a year ago. My disk drive has worked perfectly for both Dvds and CDs up until this past month. My disk drive open and close, but the disks arent being read. For example, I was trying to watch a Dvd last week and it wouldnt load no matter how many times I put it it, cleaned it, and went to My Computer. I wanted to get Technical Support from Dell but it says it has expired. The only thing I can think of is that I had recently deleted an older account of mine of the computer and when i was given the option to delete all files, i chose to. I've wanted to reinstall my Sims 2 games on my new account as well but had no luck. PLEASE HELP :( If you want to help me out in more detail e-mail me at mollynoone@yahoo.com.
