The Sims 3 PS3, Is it same on PS3 as it is on PC?

i remember on sims 2 i had it on pc it was a free world i could do what ever i wanted buti borrowed it off a friend for PSP and it had a story line it wasnt a free world game... so i was wondering is sims 3 the same on ps3 than it is on PC because i likle the sims but my PC isnt good enough to work the Sims3 ??? if you undertand what i mean? if not tell me so i can try and rephrase the question.
