How can I fix this glitch on sims 2?

I'm on twikkii island in double palm resort and when I get my sim to order room serves it takes the money away but when the receptionist picks up the plate from under his desk it just disappears from his hand. So how do I fix this glitch cause I don't want my sim living off pineapple surprise for the whole vacation!
