Ex boyfriend contacted me after breaking up what now?

So after we decided to mutually break up (he needed to get his stuff/life together), I have made no contact with him at all. Today, he texted me saying he just wanted to say hi. Which to me, sounds like he wants to talk. However, I don't know if I should respond. I feel like if I don't, his mind will wonder why I am not responding... Or maybe not? I need guy input. I love him...and I know he still has feelings for me. I would want to get back together...but I think maybe a little bit of indifference won't hurt? What do you think?
