HELP. I'm confused by his behavior. 10 POINTS BEST ANSWER. What's going on?

The thing is that by mistake because I'm shy I ignored this guy I like. However, someone told him I like him, and I think he knows I do. But he did tell someone "Why does she ignore me?" Yet, now when I try to have a new beginning he ignores me and still seems to resent me. Yet, if I send him a nice text he won't respond but he'll smile and stare at me for a few days and then go to avoiding eye contact with me and trying to show either resentment or indifference(not sure)
