My Sims 3 won't work anymore?

whenever i press play on the game launcher it freezes ususally it's ask if ii want to upgrade and ii would say no because everytime ii upgraded ii couldn't play because ii don't have the latest expansion pack. but it dosen't even ask that anymore and it just freezes! can someone help me out
