Sims 2 seasons update! please help!?

i just bought sims 2 seasons on ea games i also bought university at the same time. now once i finished downloading all the packs onto my computer i tried playing the game and it would say Error. At first i thought it might be because i installed both at the same time so i unninstalled them both and this time tried again. this time i installed university first and and tried it and it worked fine. but then i installed seasons and it said that i needed to uptdate the other games. i click the button to update and it completed. but when i tried playing it would say Runtime Error or EC: 5507. i need some help! i was really looking forward to playing seasons. and I've been trying to fix this all night :(
